The road to real democratic, and Democratic Party, reform, lies through a reorganised multiracial US working class. I just wish US liberals weren’t so utterly clueless about this.

Just as a matter of interest does anyone under 50 ever watch them now? I don’t live in the US obvs. but I used to get excerpts of them through various feeds. I first saw the excerpts around 20 yrs ago (?) and I instantly hated them. I knew intuitively they were political poison. But then I’ve been a mass organiser for 50 years where I live. Every polity has its own difficulties of course, but the barriers to any real mass organising in the US are formidable. I worked for a time in the US thirty years ago. The level of political understanding there, even among very good union organisers was…woeful.

Agree completely. The love of late night shows and their ‘political critiques’ couched in a kind of arch cultural liberalism gives me the ips. I’ve come to regard the shows and the love of them by a certain type of US liberal as exemplifying everything that is fucked up politically in the US. In electoral and industrial politics, ‘affect’ matters. Far more than detailed policy programs when it comes to people’s understandings. The decision of US unions to reject their own independent political/electoral vehicle in the late 19th/early 20thCs has had dire consequences for US democracy and social democracy in the US imho.

Indeed. Well put. They are simply political poison.

Squashing unions and the labor movement is more evidence that the “family values” party doesn’t value working families much at all. In fact they are #ProSTRIFE, inflicting needless economic harm across the boards. Higher prices and less access to government aid combineto create despair intended to break our will. But they will instead unify us as we come to realize that it really is a 99% vs 1% battle after all.

Block the road now. Too much is at risk to wait! Mobilize Blue state National Guards when threatened. The invasion of one state by another is a call to state Governors to mobilize their National Guards to resist an UNLAWFUL assault. The U.S. military should not accept UNLAWFUL orders. The sooner we get this over with, the better. This confrontation is coming. It is coming! We are stronger now than we will be tomorrow. The confrontation is not a battle or a war. It is a standoff at the State borders. We know TACO. Also, the gerrymander fight is on. There is a new playbook. The old rules have been struck down by the Supreme Court. We need to change the gears here as fast as possible for deadly PREEMPTIVE strikes. Newsom has moved out on this already. Who is next? Hochul. Where are you? NO EXCUSE! Change your state Constitution. Pritzker. What are you doing?

As to Mike speaking to an ICE job applicant, I have noticed a difference between how college educated (required) state patrol officers treat the public vs. non-college local police officers.

There may be a confounding variable though in the effects on these officers of dealing with types of crimes state patrol see vs. what I imagine is worse crimes on average handled by local police.
