I feel deluded and sick. The outsized proportion of these shadow efforts and the length of time they’ve been happening is eye opening to the average person. I knew about the influence of lobbyists and corporations but I didn’t know how extensive and how deep the rot. Realizing it now I think how could we not be in this calamitous situation at this time. It’s been the corporate plan all along and it’s coming to fruition.
In the back of mind most of this was setting on various shelves, like "Dark Money" I had some idea. But I had never thought of it all like this. It literally made me sick to my stomach.
I don't see a path forward to escape a dystopian future.
One party is fully authoritarian, and the opposition party fails to fight and its leadership is captured by the same/similar "shadows".
Add in a radicalized SCOTUS that ignores laws, precedent, and black letter law and the rapid moves to suppress/criminalize protests and what passes for "freedom of the press", where will we be in one year, three years?
I believe the Court enabled Trump's candidacy to protect themselves from the likelihood Democrats would impose term limits on them. I recall that Biden had expressed support for this.
The Court may find against Trump in the IEEPA tariffs case. A group backed by none other than Leonard Leo and Charles Koch (both are in that painting) brought one of the lawsuits challenging his authority under that law.
Rather depressing article to say the least. What people need is hope and what to do about the mess we are in. Two factors will deal with it all eventually - (1) Father Time will stop all of us eventually, that clock is ticking and will run out and (2) Mother Nature will deal with the mess we have made and She will be the ultimate decider on the future of us all. The truly sad part is the damage and destruction being done to each other in the name of what???? Money, Power, Control?????? That is the goal(s) of those who seek to control it all?????? For what??? Shines a very dark sinister light on the human beings.......the ones who seek to have it all at Literally the expense of everyone else!!!! The result? The world in a smoldering ruins.........with a few castles and nothing but ruin and despair around them???????
