What you wrote is like reading tea leaves in this most convoluted American system of elections, mostly invented to convince Americans that they can democratically elect their government, which is a fallacy. It takes too far here to mention all the gaps of the USA elections compared to other countries, but I will give 4 major causes, 1. the lack of choice throwing all nature of political thought into two parties (okay, a 3rd option: to not chose), 2. the millions of purchase money available to candidates or their supporters to buy their way into a position. 3. the lack of solid boundaries in districting under a neutral arms' length organization and executing one standardized ballot when possible, judging decisions on fairness and 4. leaving the corrupt leaders to its corruption without the appointed bodies doing their work (congress and judges).
