The Republican gerrymandering in Texas is EXACTLY part of the authoritarian coup, not just everybody does it. Like you said exactly. I’m so glad you called this out. And the Voting Rights Act is in grave danger. This is all part of the white supremacist “christian”extremist patriarchy that is the GOP and project 2025, including the Supreme Court.
Thank you for helping keep Texans on our minds as they fight for our rights! Americans should rally to the cause of Texans now the way they rallied to the cause of Bostonians 250 years ago. As Patrick Henry put it at the end of his famous speech in Virginia on March 23, 1775:
"Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! Good for those legislators in Texas who stood up (and walked out) to fulfill their oaths to support our Constitution! Our Constitution supports them as strongly as they are supporting it. Regarding the illegality and criminality of partisan gerrymandering, please consider the following:

The time is now. The line is here. Ours is a job to do. From New York Harbor, we heard the unarmed but alarmed Lady Liberty’s clarion call. I made us 100 protest signs, here. Atop the U.S. Capitol Building Lady Freedom heard her. It is Lady Freedom that holds this Nation’s sword .She pulled it, dismounting to lead us to the streets. They both pointed out clear ways without bloodshed: boycott and gerrymander. Yes, we can, Cesar, Sí se puede. Rise!
Is anyone coming up with a clear statement of what Democrats stand for -- something that is repeated over and over? If not, something is wrong.
In the spirit of workshopping this, I offer the following, which is based on the principle that one must always condense things into no more than five points. I also think that perhaps everything falls into one of these five points. For example, climate change is a big problem that needs creativity and diverse voices to address. Mass incarceration is also such a problem.
I also see this as a LONG TERM VISION of what we Democrats are building FROM THE GROUND UP. Would love to hear other ideas.

· Jobs are available for anyone who wants a job.
· People in need are cared for by the community.

The focus on State politics is also very good. The US Democratic Party focuses too much on federal elections and not enough on the local and state.
